2021 COVID-19 Vaccination Events
December 2021 - BNA collaborated with NYC Heatlh & Hospitals and NYU Langone Health Perlmutter Cancer Center to provide free COVID-19 testing and vaccinations/boosters for all residents 5 years of age and older. 
Toys were given out to all children by NYU Langone Health Perlmutter Cancer Center.

2021 NYC Care Presentation
July 28, 2021, BNA Staff conducted a presentation in front of the Brighton Beach Public Library location, to promote the NYC Care program.


2020 Random NYC Care Events
Throughout 2020, BNA a representative for NYC Care / NYC Health & Hospitals, held a number of events and workshops to promote the NYC Care program and enroll uninsurable individuals.

2020 Hosted COVID-19 Testing Sites
In July & September 2020, BNA hosted 2 COVID-19 testing sites run by NYC Health & Hospitals. The site tested over 600 individuals for the virus.


2018 Immigrations & Discrimination Workshop
September 12, 2018, BNA held a workshop with representatives from NYC Consumer Affairs to educate individuals on immigrants & discrimination rights.

2018 Human Rights Workshop
April 4, 2018, BNA held a workshop with representatives from the Human Rights Administration to educate individuals as to their rights, and Section 8 updates.


2017 Citizen Hurricane Preparedness Workshop
August 17, 2017 BNA held a workshop with the help of the U.S. National Guard's Citizen Preparedness Corps representatives. This workshop was an instructional what-to-do incase another hurricane or any other natural or man-made disaster were to hit our community. We would like to thank the U.S. National Guard for making this workshop possible.


2017 Spring Into Health Workshop
May 19, 2017 BNA held a Health workshop with
the help of Walgreens Pharmacy. BNA would like to thank Walgreen's Pharmacist Yelena Katz and staff for helping to set up this workshop. Walgreen's Pharmacy staff was on hand to educate local residents with tips to keeping healthy, as well as check blood pressure.

2017 BNA's 40th Birthday Celebration
May 17, 2017, BNA celebrated it's 40th Birthday, with a little help from some local residents. BNA also took the time to turn the celebration into a community Q & A and took note of the residents concerns and issues.


2017 No Heat Lobby Meeting
March 28, 2017, BNA arranged a Lobby
Meeting at 3030 Brighton 12th Street after numberous complaints insufficient heat and hot water. The Landlord Mr. Parlanti, was asked to attend and Lenny Markh, Chief of Staff of Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz offered to help resolve the problem. After an hour of tenants complaints. The landlord had agreed to move the sensor which were causing the issues to various parts of the building, as oppose to leaving them all on the 6th floor to get more accurate temperture readings. In addition he will be moving the outside sensor to a more reliable area. He has agreed to work with BNA and the tenants to improve the problem. We will continue to monitor and we appreciate Mr. Markh, Assemblyman Cymbrowitz and the attendance of Mr. Parlanti.

2017 Brooklyn Boulevard ALP Senior Living Workshop
January 12, 2017. BNA held a workshop with the help of Brooklyn Boulevard ALP. We would like to thank Brooklyn Boulevard ALP representatives for conducting a workshop to our seniors. They introduced their new facility in Starrett City which included luxurious and spacious 1 and 2 bedroom suites, delicious and nutritious kosher meals and exciting amenities including library, game rooms, media center and much more.

2016 No Heat Lobby Meeting
04/04/2016 BNA arranged a Lobby Meeting at 3030 Brighton 12th Street after numberous complaints insufficient heat.

2016 Bed Bug Workshop
03/30/2016 After numerous local tenants complained about a rise in bed bug infestations BNA arranged to have a Beg Bug Educational Workshop.

05/2015 BNA gave their support to WWII Russian/American Veterans.

2015 Health Lecture - Allergies
05/20/2015 local residents attended a free Health lecture from Walgreens Pharmacist Yelena Katz, this was made possible with the help of Affinity Health Care's Representative's Lisa Jones, Jatawn DeShields & Angie Ali. 2015 Health Care Workshop
05/07/2015 local residents attended a free Health Care workshop conducted by NY State of Health's Alejandra Tovar and Representative. Local residents were educated on available health care options as well as invited to celebrate BNA's 38th Anniversary. Every participant also received a flower in honor of Mother's Day. BNA Thanks Alejandra and NY State of Health for making this workshop possible.

2015 Health Lecture - Cold & Flu
02/12/2015 local residents attended a free Health lecture from Walgreens Pharmacist Yelena Katz, this was made possible with the help of Affinity Health Care's Representative Lisa Jones. As an added bonus all participants received a free blood pressure reading and walked out with a beautiful rose. BNA' Thanks Yelena and Lisa for making this lecture possible.


2014 Citizen Preparedness Workshop
09/18/2014 BNA held a workshop with the help of the U.S. National Guard's Citizen Preparedness Corps representatives. This workshop was an instructional what-to-do incase another hurricane or any other natural or man-made disaster were to hit our community. Affinity Health Plan representatives were on hand as well. Every attendee of this workshop left with a goody bag filled with a few emergency supplies. We would like to thank Affinity Health Plan and Con Edison for supplying a few goodies, and of course the U.S. National Guard for making this workshop possible.

2014 Build It Back - Help Desk
September 2014 BNA was asked by Local Initiative Support Corporation’s Robert Beach to help spear-head a three-day free Help Desk for home owners who were victims of Hurricane Sandy that needed advice on how they could approach fixing the damages to their properties, as well as answer any other questions pertaining to their growing needs after the storm. There were free architects, legal counseling & build it back representatives, along with various insurance representatives on hand to assist.


2014 SCRIE Update Meeting
06/27/2014 BNA held a meeting to advise residents as to the changes effecting their SCRIE and to answer any questions or concerns they had.

2014 Section 8 Update Meeting
05/29/2014 BNA held a meeting with the help of Human Right's Commission representative Alex Korkhov to advise residents as to the changes effecting their Section 8, to educate them as to
their responsibilities pertaining to their rent and to answer any questions or concerns they had.

 

2014 BNA's 37th Birthday / CIH Women's Health Lecture
on May 06, 2014 BNA celebrated it's 37 year anniversary. We decided to share this celebration with our local residents, who also attended a free lecture from Coney Island Hospital's Public Health Educator Samia Butt, to answer questions and concern's residents had about Women's Health issues. COJO of Flatbush's Hurricane Sandy Relief Caseworker Sara Gula Pilshtiev was also on hand to continue her efforts to help the victims of Sandy still in need. We would like to thank Samia, CIH, Sara & COJO for taking the time to help out those in need. Besides everyone received cake and light refreshments, an added bonus was every women received a Rose and every child received a stuffed toy.

2014 Hurricane Sandy Victim
Counseling
04/02/14 - Months after Hurricane Sandy, Victims are still in need of help. COJO of Flatbush's representatives were invited to use our space and staff for translations to help Counsel some of the victims. Most of the victims who came were from the Hispanic community and were among the hardest hit.
Most of them living in basment apartments that had been complete submerged by the floods, they lost everything. We would like to thank COJO's Sara Gula Pilshtiev and fellow representative for being here to help these victims.

 
 

2014 HRA Meeting
02/06/14 BNA held a meeting for local residents to help update them to any changes or answer any of their concerns pertaining to their HRA benefits. BNA would like to thank the Human Resourses Administation's respresentative Chaz Crowder for makingthis meeting possible.

2013 Landlord / Tenant Advocacy
Meeting

It was brought to our attention that a local
landlord was threatening 72 tenants in a rent stabilized building. The letters they recieved stated that their leases would not be renewed. Most of these tenants were low income seniors. BNA held a meeting with the tenants along with a Legal Aid Attorney from the State Division of Housing, Jonathan Twersky to advise these tenants of their rights. Because of our intervention the landlord changed his mind and renewed the tenants' leases.


2013 BNA Collaborates with Catholic Charities
07/2013 - Catholic Charities’ Representative Blair Jones reached out to BNA to ask for help with translations and intake for their distribution of food to low income residents from Coney Island and Brighton Beach.

2013 Free Mold Remediation / Removal Help Meeting
04/02/13 - In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, mold is still a very big issue in many areas of Brooklyn. Neighborhood Revitalization NYC (NRNYC) / LISC conducted and signed up
local residents for free mold removal with the help of BNA. We would like to thank NRNYC / LISC and their representatives Robert Beach, Borough Coordinator and Nick Charles, Director of Communications for bringing their services to Brighton Beach.

 


2013 Senior Benefit & Housing /
Domestic Violence Meeting

  02/22/13 - BNA provided a multiple topic
meeting with the help of NYC Family Justice representitives Alicke Hawks & Joy Ziegeweid, NYC Department 
of Aging's representitive Roy Carmona, The Mayor's Office of immigrant Affairs representitives Lourdes Vazquez & Emily Rowland-Kain and Affinity Health Plan Affinity representitives Bosede Akamiokhor, Community Program Manager and Lellani Rosa, Medicare Sales Social Service Coordinator. All were on hand to lecture and answer questions residents had about various concerns. We would like to thank them all for making this meeting a success.

2013 Mold Remediation Meeting
  02/14/13 - In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, mold has become a huge issue in the Brighton Beach area. BNA provided a very informative meeting sponsored by Affinity Health Plan. We would like to thank Affinity' and their representitives Denise Richards, Director and Bosede Akamiokhor, Community Program Manager and their special guest Dr. Boris Ripo for making this meeting possible.

 


2012 Voters Rights and Heating Law Discussion
10/2012 BNA held a very informative Voters Rights and Heating Law Discussion. We would like to thank activist Tanya Segal for co-hosting this discussion. We would also like to thank State Senator David Storabin for speaking with and helping the attendees with their questions and concerns and Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz for providing us with voter registration cards. We appreciate every ones support.



2012 Women's Health Lecture
05/11/12 BNA provided a Free lecture with the help of Coney Island Hospital's Public Health Educator Samia Butt, who was on hand to answer questions and concern's resident had about Women's Health issues and how to get medical treatment for the uninsured. We would like to thank Samia and CIH for taking the time to share this information.



2012 NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) Meeting
05/09/12 BNA provided a meeting where The Commissioner of NYC Human Resources Administration Robert Doar spoke to the Brighton Beach Community about local issues. After the meeting the Commissioner as well as other HRA staff had answered questions of the communities concerns. We would like to thank the commissioner and his staff for bringing this meeting to life.

2012 Free Nutrition & Healthy Eating Lecture
04/24/2012 BNA provided free Lecture on Nutrition & Healthy Eating with the help of Visiting Nurse Service of New York Representatives. We would like to thank VNS and their Health Specialists for helping to bring this Lecture to life.


2012 Free Cholesterol Screening
03/27/2012 BNA provided free Cholesterol
Screening with the help of Visiting Nurse
Service of New York Representatives and
Alexander Korkhov from the Commission on Human Rights. Health Specialists were on hand for Cholesterol testing and to answer any questions. Alexander was on hand to discuss various Housing Issues.
We would like to thank VNS, their Health Specialists and Alexander for helping to bring this event to life.

2012 Free Blood Pressure Screening
02/21/2012 BNA in cooperation with Vistiting Nurse Service of New York offered free blood pressure screenings.



2011 Boardwalk Meeting
June 2011 BNA hosted a community meeting with the 60th Precinct to secure the coverage for the balance of the summer on the boardwalk in hopes of instilling a piece of mind with the local 
residents.

2011 Brooklyn Community Law Day
May 2011 BNA was invited by the NYS Courts Access to Justice Program to host a Housing informational table at their event.
